Anne Lockhart, born Anne Kathleen Maloney in September 1953, is an American actress. She is well-known for playing Lieutenant Sheba in the period 1978-1979 of the television show Battlestar Galactica. Lockhart is the daughter of actress June Lockhart and granddaughter of actor Gene Lockhart. Lockhart's career started when she was a child. Anne had reportedly turned down Laurie Strode (John Carpenter's 1978 Halloween thriller) as well as Jaime Lee Curtis took the part. Carpenter says she was in his thoughts to play the character, but that she rejected it. Anne does not recall ever having been approached from John Carpenter or being offered the job. It's possible that one of her agents declined it for her reasons without informing her. Glen Larson initially selected her to play Battlestar Galactica in 1978. The script was sent to him in rough form. She initially refused the part since the character wasn't robust. Glen was able to write an even stronger character with Sheba. After reading the initial 25 pages of the script The Living Legend she accepted immediately. The film ran for one season. She co-starred with Desi Arnaz Jr. (son of Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball) Melanie Griffith and Robert Carradine in the film Joyride (1977) and co-starred alongside Michael Moriarty in the horror film The Dark Tower (1987).
